A Uruguayan singer songwriter, Jorge Drexler is now based in Spain.
Between November 22th and December 1st 2007, Drexler toured 7 towns in Catalonia. Presenting a new, unique format, the show included two sound engineers who where also musicians: Matías Cella and Campi, who would program and manipulate the songs using sound samples that they had recorded on stage, among the audience (they used 6 microphones to record them) and in the city where the band performed.
The repertory includes three new tracks, thirteen covers, including authors such as Leonard Cohen, Italian Luigi Tenco, and also Spanish interpreters such as Javier Ruibal, Kiko Veneno, Gossos or Marlango, Uruguayan artist Alfredo Zitarrosa and Brasilian composer Caetano Veloso, among others. The show covers Drexler’s entire career, including some hits and many hidden gems. Drexler, who sings in five languages (Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese and Catalan) insists that CARA B is not connected with any of his previous studio albums, but an independent project. In fact, a great part of the repertory of this album was suggested by the audience. This song closes the record entitled Cara C. The result is a double album including 32 songs, divided in two records, CARA “B”, featuring the standards of the show, and CARA “C”, including exceptional songs and rarities.
