Spanish guitarist Niño Josele has played in many countries and accompanied many musicians, from flamenco legends like Paco de Lucia, Montse Cortés, Duquende, Remedios Amaya, Pepe de Lucía, Enrique Morente and El Cigala, to international performers such as Andres Calamaro, Joan Manuel Serrat, Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys and Elton John. He has worked with musical producer Javier Limón and Fernando Trueba, and was nominated for the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards for his album Spanish.
“EL MAR DE MI VENTANA” is Niño Josele’s return to flamenco. But the truth is he never left. When he accompanies Joe Lovano or Chick Corea or Calamaro, it’s flamenco, but his way. His fingers have a mind of their own, and there’s no way to stop them. They draw from many streams. As he says himself, “Flamenco is like the sea; it is fed by many rivers, by many sources”. And it’s also the inner sea, which he lets us gaze at through the ‘window’ that opens this album, written in his native Almeria. Then we are invited to board his boat, with its first-class crew of Tomatito, Duquende, Alain Pérez, Carles Benavent, Lola Molina, José Enrique, Soleá, Estrella Morente, and (this is really going to be something) another exceptional talent in the shape of Paco de Lucía in “Caribeña”.
