Multi Latin Grammy winner Maria Rita’s hugely successful debut album Maria Rita went platinum, selling over a million copies worldwide, while her second album Segundo granted her two additional Latin Grammys for Best MPB album and Best Brazilian song, and took her across the world, including the Montreux Jazz and the North Sea Festival, as well as Irving Plaza in New York, and the San Francisco Jazz Festival.
The daughter of two icons of Brazilian music, Elis Regina and Cezar Camargo Mariano, began her singing career at the age of 24. Her third album Samba Meu, is a tribute to her country’s native samba, and includes repertoire by the great Arlindo Cruz and his partners: Franco, Picolé, Jr. Dom, Maurição and Fred Camacho, as well as Serginho Meriti and partners: Cesar Belieny, Nei Jota Carlos, and Elson do Pagode, as well as new composers like Edu Krieger and Rodrigo Bittencourt, who wrote the title track.
Samba Meu, which Maria Rita co-produced with Leandro Sapucahy, features exquisite arrangements by Jota Moraes that showcase her extensive vocal range. The new album is eagerly awaiting by both the press and the public throughout of the world.
