When Tutu (a tribute to Desmond Tutu) was released in 1986, it re-ignited Miles Davis’ career, crossing over into rock and pop, and winning Davis two Grammy Awards - key factor in raising Davis’ status to an international superstar.


It was as an international superstar Miles Davis returned in 1989 to the song-writing and production talents of his former protégé Marcus Miller. The resultant album highlights the burgeoning musical partnership of Miles with saxophonist Kenny Garrett, as well as his enthusiasm for Zouk music, which touches the set with a sense of flamboyance and freedom.


1991: To capture the street sounds around him, Miles Davis teamed up with Easy Mo Bee, creating an awesome synergy of jazz and hiphop, for what was to be his last studio recordings.
