Artists as diverse as Mercedes Sosa, Shakira, Omara Portuondo, Ana Belén, Víctor Manuel, Neneh Cherry, Pablo Milanés, Ketama, Miguel Ríos, Ana Torroja, Sole Giménez, David Broza, Rosario, Jovanotti, María Rita, Simone, Zelia Duncan, Paulinho Moska, Jaime Roos, Adriana Varela, and Bajofondo Tango Club have recorded songs by Jorge Drexler.
Since 2005, when Uruguayan singer songwriter Jorge Drexler achieved international acclaim by winning an Oscar for the song ‘Al Otro Lado Del Rio’ (the first song in Spanish to win the award) from the film The Motorcycle Diaries, his songs and recordings have won him several Grammy nominations, and multiple awards in Spain, where he is now based.
His latest album, Bailar En La Cueva, is more rhythmic, even danceable for the most part, with Drexler taking more risks than ever in terms of the sound and overall concept. Of special note is the participation of Caetano Veloso, who collaborated on the song "Bolivia". Also passing through the studio were Ana Tijoux, who delivers a rap on “Universos paralelos” (the song chosen as the first single), Bomba Estéreo, who feature on “Bailar en la cueva”, and Eduardo Cabra (Calle 13), who co-produced “Todo cae”.
