Woody Allen plays a pimp and John Turturro his gigolo employee. Accept the brilliantly absurd premise of Fading Gigolo and you're in for a hilarious ride. In addition to Allen's pimp and Turturro's gigolo, legendary screen sexpots Sharon Stone and Sofia Vergara turn up as eager clients. The film's most surprising and affecting element is the romance that develops between Fioravante and Avigal, a widow played by Vanessa Paradis.
Music plays an extremely important role in Fading Gigolo! It is omnipresent, a character taking the viewer on a journey. Its use reminds one of Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, Matchpoint or Blue Jasmine. The jazz-infused soundtrack album reproduces this journey featuring pieces by Dean Martin (Sway), Trombone Shorty (Neph), Gene Ammons (Canadian Sunset and My Romance), Vanessa Paradis (Tu si na Cosa Grande) and Dalida (Le Torrent and La Violetera), among others.
