One of the great unsung heroes of jazz singing, Andy Bey’s musical career began when he appeared live in 1947, aged 8, alongside Hank Mobley.  He formed Andy & The Bey Sisters at 17 with his two siblings, and the group recorded three albums before breaking up in 1966.  Throughout the ‘60s and ‘70s, his vocals were featured by Horace Silver, Max Roach, Duke Pearson and Gary Bartz.  Inspired by Indian classical music and treaties like The Philosophy Of The Masters, and produced by arranger William S. Fischer, this debut from 1974 is a funky and spacey affair and is now also available on vinyl, just one of the classic titles that make up 'The Vinyl Masters Series'.
