Clarinettist, saxophonist and bandleader (1923-2006) Claude Luter towered over the landscape of the Post-War Paris jazz scene. A long-time confederate of American bandleader Sidney Bechet, he championed the sound and spirit of traditional jazz into the 21st century.
Here is a tribute by his son, Eric Luter, with musicians from his orchestra, which he has been conducting since Claude’s death in 2006. The tracklisting features Claude Luter’s most beautiful compositions, along with the New Orleans jazz classics he loved to play.
