Julian Rachlin at the Royal Festival Hall 3rd November 2004

Julian Rachlin, who has just released his first record for Warner Classics: Brahms Violin Concerto and Mozart Violin Concerto No. 3 with the Bayerische Rundfunk Orchestra and Mariss Jansons, performs the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Tadaaki Otaka at the Royal Festival Hall in London on 3rd November 2004. Julian's CD has been receiving rapturous acclaim from international press: 'When Julian Rachlin enters [in the Brahms], he takes up the lightness of approach that's been set up [by the orchestra] and flies with it.' *****/**** BBC Music Magazine (October 2004) 'Rachlin's sound here is divine and the declamatory argument of the finale triumphant.' **** The Independent on Sunday (10th October 2004) 'He is a player of formidable gifts.' International Record Review (October 2004) 'This is exceptional playing captured in a recording where solo violin and orchestra are ideally balanced.' ***** The Independent (11 October 2004) 'Wonderful technique, tone and tuning: though expected at this level, they are still remarkable here.' Classic FM Magazine (November 2004) Julian will be interviewed and perform live on Radio 3's In Tune (90-93 FM or listen online at www.bbc.co.uk/radio3) at 5.15pm on Thursday 4th November. He will be performing the first movement of Beethoven Sonata No. 7 and Kreisler's Liebesleid live on air.
