John Foulds: Features and reviews

The new CD of music by John Foulds, out now on Warner Classics, includes the world premiere recording of Music Pictures (Group III), a large-scale orchestral work on a similar theme to Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. The other works on the recording, performed by Peter Donohoe, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Sakari Oramo, are April – England, Dynamic Triptych (Piano Concerto), Lament from A Celtic Suite Op. 29 and Song of Ram Dass. On top of these beautiful recordings on the CD there is a world exclusive FREE download of a movement from the composer’s Indian Suite available at warnerclassics.com’s EXCLUSIVE AREA. Not included on the CD, but recorded at the same session, this download provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear this piece recorded for the first time.
