Another great review for Daniel Hope's Shostakovich recording

On 12th March 2006, Anna Picard gave Daniel Hope's recording of Shostakovich's Violin Concertos with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Maxim Shostakovich a 4-star review in the Independent on Sunday. She said, 'Daniel Hope has a distinctive voice and impeccable technique. His tone is radiant, his bowing beautifully controlled, and his phrasing has a searching quality ideal for Shostakovich.' Ths CD also includes one of Shostakovich's most popular pieces: the Romance from The Gadfly. This performance corrects a wrong note that Hope says has “plagued the ‘Romance’ since its first performance”.
