9 Divas & Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna

Created in 1967, The Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna originally had a line-up of 25 jazz musicians, but by the beginning of the '70s they were accompanying vocalists like Elena Burke, Omara Portuondo, Moraima Secada and Ela Calvo, who achieved some of their greatest successes at the time, as well as Afro-Cuban singer Merceditas Valdés, and local star Rosita Fornés. Younger songstresses such as Beatriz Márquez y Nereida Naranjo also made their first recordings with them.
